Description
The gate piers and overthrow at the churchyard entrance west of the Church of St Mary date from the early 19th century. They are made of pink sandstone ashlar and wrought iron. The structure features square rusticated piers on a chamfered plinth, topped with shaped caps. The overthrow includes serpentine brackets that originally supported an oil-lamp bracket, which has since been replaced with a Victorian gas lamp that has been converted to electricity. The adjoining walls are not of particular interest. This structure is listed for its group value with the Church of St Mary.
