Description

This is a bank barn dating from the early 19th century, located south of Hill Rise in Hackthorpe. It features limestone rubble walls with flush sandstone quoins and is topped with a graduated greenslate roof. The barn is two storeys high and has four bays. The upper floor includes a central projecting cart entrance with a gabled roof, accessible via an earth ramp. There are several ground-floor doorways and numerous through-stones at various levels. The rear of the barn also has ground-floor doorways and a central loft doorway, all fitted with plank doors and stone surrounds. Slit vents are positioned beside the loft door, and the return walls feature slit vents and through-stones. This barn is listed for its group value with The Cubby.
