Description
This is a farmhouse with an attached barn, built in 1785. It is constructed from roughly squared stone with chamfered quoins. The roof is covered in graduated slate, featuring corniced stone end chimneys, stone copings, and kneelers. The farmhouse itself is two storeys high and has a symmetrical design with three bays. The central front door is set within a rusticated surround, and above it is a lintel with a false arch containing the date "1785." There is a single 16-pane sash window to either side of the door, and three similar windows above, though the central one was blocked in the late 18th century. All the windows have stone surrounds. A plank door at the rear has two 2-light mullioned windows below it, with a single window above. The stair window has a distinctive stone surround with a traceried semicircular head, a projecting keystone, and imposts.
To the left of the farmhouse, set back, is a lower, two-storey outbuilding constructed from rubble stone, under a graduated slate roof. This has a small sash window with glazing bars on each floor, plus a plank door to the left. On the right is a lower barn/byre, built from roughly squared rubble stone with a corrugated asbestos roof and a graduated slate outshut at the rear. The barn has two plank doors beneath original segmental arches, and one under an inserted lintel, along with five casement windows. Loft access and ventilation slits are located above, and there is a wagon entrance to the rear. A later build, with a graduated slate roof, extends from the north end with a single door and window, and two blocked doors in the end wall. A 20th-century lean-to stable located between the house and barn at the front is not part of the listed building.
