Description
The fountain head located in the garden to the south-west of Crackenthorpe Hall dates from the late 19th century to early 20th century. It features a sculpted panel, possibly made of lead, which has a central spout that emerges from the mouth of a bearded man’s head adorned with ram's horns. The bottom of the panel is shell-shaped and supports two small cherubs. On the rear of the panel, there is an inscription that reads: "Fountain designed & executed by Feodora Gleichen. R.S.P.E:R.S.B.S. Legion D'Honneur (Posthumous). Daughter of Admiral H.S.H. Prince Victor of Hohenlohe-Langenburg. G.C.B. R.N. (Nephew of Queen Victoria) and of his wife Lady Laura Seymour."
