Description
Raven Winder Farmhouse is a farmhouse that likely dates from the 17th century, with alterations from the 18th century and a right-hand bay addition, along with a rear wing from the 19th century. The building is constructed of roughcast stone and has a slate roof. It stands two storeys high and has four bays, originally designed with a central entrance.
On the ground floor, there is a triple-sashed window with glazing bars in the first bay and a similar small-paned casement window in the third bay. The first floor features paired-sashed windows with glazing bars. The entrance, located in the end bay, has an architrave and a datestone set into the lintel, along with a four-panel door. The farmhouse has a gable-end stack and a cross-axial stack, both topped with round shafts.
At the rear, there is a two-storey projecting gabled bay, with a larger gabled wing to the left and an outshut under a catslide roof to the left of this wing. Inside, there is a round-headed cupboard with fielded-panel doors, and the interior features painted and gilded fluted flat pilasters surrounding a niche with shaped shelves and a painted shell in the vault.
