Description

This is a milestone located at the entrance to Linefoot Farm, dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century. It is made of whitewashed red sandstone and features a round-topped design. The front of the stone has a cast iron plate inscribed with the distances to Cockermouth Court-House, which is 4 miles away, and Maryport Market-Place, which is 3¼ miles away. The lettering on the plate is highlighted in black, and there is an Ordnance Survey bench mark on the top of the stone.
