Description
Grindal House is a house from the mid-19th century with later additions and alterations. The main block features incised stucco with rusticated quoins on the banded ground floor. There is a string course between the ground and first floors, and a sill band at the second floor, topped by an eaves cornice with egg and dart moulding. The south end wing also has incised stucco and an eaves cornice. The building has hipped roofs covered with graduated slates, along with corniced, rendered chimneys and pedimented dormers on the main block.
The symmetrical main block is three stories high and has three bays. It includes a central panelled door set in a rusticated architrave, flanked by tripartite sash windows. Each floor above has three sash windows (the second floor features 16-pane sashes), all with rusticated lintels. The north return has three sashes on each floor and in the cellar. The two-story, two-bay wing has tripartite sashes on the ground floor and single sashes above, one of which is a 16-pane window. All windows are framed in architraves.
