Description

Stone House is a house dated 1712, with later alterations. The north gable was rebuilt in the late 20th century. It features a steeply pitched graduated slate roof, with kneelers and a rendered chimney at the north end. The building is symmetrical, with two storeys and three bays on the front. There is a central panelled door set in a corniced doorcase, which carries an ornately framed and pedimented datestone; although weathered, the name "Stainton" can still be read. Each floor has two sash windows in stone surrounds, with the upper windows featuring glazing bars.
