Description

ROPER STREET NX 9718 SW 6/186 No 55 GV II House with shop (derelict at time of inspection, September 1989). Early to mid C19 but very likely incorporating earlier work (internal inspection not possible). Rendered sandstone; slate roof. Plan not confirmed. 4 unequal storeys, that to the 1st floor (containing principal rooms) taller than those above, the top storey probably storerooms. 3 window range (2 windows to 1st floor), all windows with raised surrounds; some horned sashes survive, other openings blocked. Mid C19 shop front with simple pilasters; panelled door in deep reveals. Access to entry to extreme left. Included for group value; an internal inspection could reveal features of interest.
