Description

No. 52 Roper Street is a house with a shop, dating from the early 18th century and remodelled in the 19th century. It is built of rendered sandstone and has a slate roof. The building has a double depth plan with lateral stairs and stands three storeys high. It features a regular three-window range, with all windows having 2-pane sashes set in reveals with raised stone surrounds. The shopfront, dating from around 1900, includes a moulded cornice, side doorways, and a 2-light plate glass window in between. At the rear, the windows also have stone surrounds and brick relieving arches above the lintels.
