Description

Milestone opposite Moota Inn is a milestone dating from the late 18th century or early 19th century, originally marking the Carlisle to Cockermouth turnpike. It is made of whitewashed stone and features a round-topped design with a curved face. At the front, there is a cast iron plate inscribed with the distances: "CARLISLE 22 MILES," "WIGTON 11 MILES," and "COCKERMOUTH 4½ MILES," with the lettering highlighted in black.
