Description

The cattle pound at High Ellerbeck Bridge is an early 19th-century structure made of calciferous sandstone rubble. It features a low drystone wall with a mix of large and small stone coping, which encloses a small, roughly rectangular area situated between a field and the former road that led to a ford over the river. Although it is now disused and overgrown, this cattle pound is a rare survival in the area.
