Description

This property comprises three buildings at 18, 20, and 22 Abbey Street, originally a house with a shop, dating to the early and mid-19th century, with subsequent alterations. The building formerly known as TP Bell’s Abbey Street is constructed of Flemish bond brickwork, using lighter coloured headers, with a graduated slate roof and 19th-century gable brick chimney stacks. The shop section has brickwork on a chamfered plinth and features gutter brackets. It has a Welsh slate roof and a 19th-century gable brick chimney stack.

The original house section is three storeys high and two bays wide. The shop section is two storeys and two bays. The rightmost house has an early 20th-century shop window with glazed doors, set beneath a signboard. Above are sash windows with glazing bars, within brick reveals, painted stone sills and flat brick arches. The shop has a central panelled door flanked by glazed shop doors within a painted stone surround and an overall hood moulding. Small 20th-century shop windows are housed in wooden surrounds, with sash windows above in brick reveals, stone sills, and flat brick arches. The interior of the building has not been inspected.
