Description
34 Abbey Street is a house dating from the late 18th century. It features Flemish bond brickwork with light headers, set on a painted chamfered plinth and a sill band. The roof is made of graduated greenslate and has a gable brick chimney stack. The building is two storeys high with a three-window range, making four bays overall. A low painted stone wall with speared railings leads up to an off-centre panelled door, which is topped by a radial fanlight in an open pedimented doorcase. The sash windows have glazing bars and are set in plain stone reveals, with flat brick arches and stone sills. Inside, there are panelled shutters and panelled doors within panelled reveals. The original stone staircase features patterned cast-iron balusters and a moulded wooden handrail.
