Description
This is a farm outbuilding dating from the 18th century, with 20th-century alterations and additions, possibly built on earlier stone foundations. It is constructed from red brick laid in English Common bond and features a 20th-century corrugated sheet roof. The building is single storey and may have originally had overlofts. It includes a lean-to structure and a three-bay cartshed with a granary above.
The south-west elevation has six bays, with the fourth bay from the south-east gable featuring a porch that provides access to entries on both side walls. There are two tiers of slit vents, and the porch walls have stone quoined ends. Beyond the porch, there is a 20th-century corrugated sheet lean-to, and the north-west end bay has inserted 20th-century ground and first-floor openings.
On the north-east side wall, there is a stone lean-to with quoined corners and V-jointed ashlar piers that support wooden lintels above cart openings. The roof of the lean-to is supported by curved principal rafters, which may be re-used cruck blades. The main roof features plain collar and tie beam trusses that support trenched double purlins. The porch on the north-east side has tall boarded double doors.
