Description
The Hollies is an 18th-century house, dated 1746, constructed of coursed squared ironstone and limestone with a tile roof and flanking brick stacks. The building has two storeys and an attic, featuring four bays. The outer bays on the ground floor have wooden lintels and three-light casement windows with a transom. The second bay from the right and the second bay from the left have similar two-light windows, while the first floor has two-light transomed casement windows with wooden lintels. There are two skylights in the attic, and the gable ends are coped with kneelers. The entrance is located in a 20th-century extension at the rear. The interior was not inspected.
Attached to the right side at the rear is a barn made of coursed limestone and ironstone rubble, topped with a corrugated iron roof. This barn has three bays and is a single storey with a loft. The right bay has a cart entrance that was enlarged in the 20th century, featuring a wooden lintel and brick jambs. The left bay has a doorway with a wooden lintel and a plank door with an overlight. To the right, there is a blank stone plaque with a moulded hood, and to the left, a three-light opening with a wooden lintel and wooden mullions. Inside, there are old chamfered spine beams on the left floors, while the floors and roof timbers are from the 20th century.
