Description

Firs Farmhouse is a house dating to the late 18th century, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed of red brick in a Flemish bond pattern, with an old plain-tile roof featuring ornamental ridge tiles and brick end stacks. The house is two storeys and an attic, with a three-window front. The building has a three-unit plan. A six-panel door is located to the left of the centre, and has a fanlight and a moulded wooden surround with console brackets supporting an open pediment. A two-storey canted bay window is centrally positioned, and the remaining windows are tripartite sashes, with those on the ground floor featuring flat-arched stone heads and keyblocks. The house has dentilled wooden eaves and three hipped roof dormers. A wing to the rear left was added in the 20th century. The interior was not inspected. The building is included on the list for its contribution to the group value of the surrounding area.
