Description
Claremont House is a house located on the east side of London Road in Old Stratford. It dates from the early 19th century but has earlier origins. The building is constructed of rendered stone or brick and features a slate roof with brick end stacks. It is three stories tall and has a three-window range, following a three-unit plan.
The entrance, a four-panel door located to the left of center, is accessed by two stone steps and is framed by an overlight with a moulded wood surround, fluted Ionic pilasters, a plain frieze, and a moulded cornice. The ground and first floors have twenty-pane sash windows, while the second floor features fifteen-pane sashes. The windows on the ground and first floors are adorned with painted stone lintels and keyblocks. The house has a plinth and moulded wood eaves.
To the left, there is a single-storey lean-to extension with a one-window range, which includes a twenty-pane sash window with a painted stone lintel and keyblock. The interior has not been inspected.
