Description
The bridge over the River Ouse, located in Old Stratford, was built in 1834 by James Miln, who served as the County Surveyor of Northamptonshire from 1826 to 1863. The contractor for the project was Charles Ireson of Northampton. Constructed from Derbyshire mill-stone grit sourced from Crick or the Dukes quarries, this bridge features three arches with elliptical shapes and short semi-circular cutwaters. The structure is made of ashlar masonry and includes channelled masonry, a dentilled cornice, and a plain stone-coped parapet. The parapet is punctuated by plain piers over the cutwaters and panelled piers that rise above the level of the parapet coping, positioned over the crowns of the arches.
