Description
The Rising Sun Public House is an early 18th-century brick building located on the south-west side of High Street in Stony Stratford. It has two storeys and five windows, topped with a steep tiled Mansard roof and late brick chimney stacks on the gables. There are two gabled dormers towards the north end, high brick verges, and a string course between the storeys, along with a modillion eaves cornice.
All windows are sash, with the central window on the first floor featuring a modified Venetian style without an architrave. The other windows are set in wide plain wooden cases with shallow reveals and flat heads. The two windows to the left of the central entrance have segmental arched heads and retain their original glazing bars, while to the right of the entrance is a later bay. The entrance door is well-crafted, featuring two small glazed panels and four fielded panels, with the bottom half being plain. It is topped by a shallow pedimented hood supported by two modillions.
