Description

Hill Farmhouse is a house dating from the 17th century. The roof pitch was altered in the 19th century, and it was remodelled in the 20th century. The building is constructed of coursed ironstone and limestone rubble, topped with a slate roof and flanked by brick stacks. It has an L-plan layout, with two storeys and an attic, and features three bays.

The central doorway has a wooden lintel and a 20th-century four-panel door, flanked by three-light casement windows with wooden lintels. The first floor has similar windows in the outer bays and a two-light casement window in the centre. All windows on the main front were renewed in the 20th century. At the rear, there is a two-light stone mullioned window with a square hood.

There is a projecting wing at the rear, also from the 17th century, made of similar materials, with two storeys and an attic, and one bay. This wing has three-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods on both floors on the south side. The entrance on the north side features a wooden lintel and a plank door in the left bay, with a two-light stone mullioned window to the right, and a similar three-light stone mullioned window on the first floor. The right side has three-light stone mullioned windows with square hoods on both the ground and first floors, along with a two-light window in the attic.

The interior has not been inspected but is said to have been altered in the 20th century, with a new staircase inserted and an old open fireplace rebuilt, while still retaining chamfered spine beams.
