Description
The stone walls, gateway, and gatepiers at the entrance to Culworth House date from the early 19th century. They are constructed from ironstone ashlar and coursed squared ironstone. The gateway features a keystoned arch adorned with strapwork cresting, ball finials, and a blank stone shield. On either side of the arch are square stone piers topped with pyramid-shaped caps, with a wall that curves down to similar flanking piers. The wall, likely also from the early 19th century, is made of coursed squared ironstone and has a stone coping. It extends to the left along Queen's Street, leading to the rear entrance of Culworth House. This rear entrance includes 19th-century square stone piers with pyramid tops, which are connected to taller piers flanking the gates by a curved stone wall. The gates are plank gates from the 19th or 20th century.
