Description

This is a row of five houses located on Sywell Road, Overstone. The houses date to the early 18th century. They are constructed of regular coursed lias stone with thatched roofs. Originally, each house was planned as a two-unit dwelling. The row presents a 14-window facade, with casement windows featuring leaded lights and timber lintels. Some original glass remains in the first-floor windows of No. 104. Eyebrow dormers are present on Nos. 102, 108, and 110. A 20th-century porch provides the front entrance to No. 104; the other entrances are located at the rear of the properties. No. 102 has ashlar gable and abutment parapets, and brick stacks are visible along the ridge and at the ends of the row. 20th-century extensions have been added to the rear. The interiors of the houses have not been inspected, but some are noted to contain chamfered beams and open fireplaces with bressumers.
