Description
Whistlefield is a house built in the mid-19th century, constructed from regular coursed lias with ashlar dressings. It features a two-unit plan and stands two storeys high with a three-window range. The central entrance has a 19th-century glazed door set beneath a four-centred moulded stone head. The windows are stone mullions, with two- and three-light configurations. The central section of the house projects forward and is topped with a gable, which has ashlar gable parapets. Tall brick and stone stacks are located at each end of the building. Inside, there is a hatch in the entrance hall that was likely used for collecting estate rent. Whistlefield was originally part of a group of estate service buildings that included The Dairy, Court House, Court Lodge, and No. 2 Court Cottages.
