Description

The Courthouse is a mid-19th century house constructed of regular coursed lias stone with ashlar dressings. It has a two-unit plan with a gabled cross wing to its right-hand side. The house is two storeys high and has a two-window front. A central glazed door is framed by a four-centred moulded stone arch. A canted stone bay window is located to the right, and an early 20th century squared stone bay window is on the left. A first-floor casement window has a moulded stone surround. The house features ashlar gable parapets, kneelers, and tall brick and stone stacks at the ends. Originally part of a group of estate service buildings that included The Dairy, Court Lodge, No. 2 Court Cottages, and Whistlefield, it is listed for group value.
