Description

This is a 17th-century cottage located on Bricketts Lane, Flore. It is shown on Ordnance Survey maps as number 25. The construction is of coursed squared ironstone with a thatched roof, and it features brick end stacks, the one on the left built upon a stone base. The cottage has a three-room plan and two storeys with an attic. It has a four-window front. A central door is surrounded by a moulded wooden architrave with deep panelled reveals, with a buttress to the left and a three-light leaded ovolo wood mullion window above, beneath a timber lintel. A three-light casement window with moulded stone jambs and a stop-chamfered timber lintel is further to the left. A 20th-century window with a concrete lintel sits to the right of the door, alongside another three-light casement with a timber lintel. The first floor has two-light leaded casements except for a 20th-century casement on the far left. To the far right is a later addition, constructed of finer masonry, likely dating to the late 18th century, featuring a partially glazed 19th-century door above a plank door leading to a cellar, both protected by a timber lintel. Inside, the cottage retains chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with a chamfered bressumer.
