Description
Nos. 81 and 83 on Watling Street are a pair of cottages dating from the 18th century, with alterations made in the 20th century. They are constructed from coursed limestone rubble that has been painted, and feature a corrugated iron roof along with brick stacks at the ends and on the ridge. The cottages are two stories tall and have a four-window range, following a two-unit plan.
The doors, which are from the 20th century, are located to the left and right of the center. The door on the right has a wooden lintel, while the door on the left has a brick segmental-arched head. There is a canted bay window on the far right. The ground floor center and the first floor right have three-light casement windows, while the remaining windows are two-light casements. All windows have wooden lintels, except for those on the ground floor left, which feature segmental-arched brick heads. The interior has not been inspected.
