Description

This chest tomb, dating from the 17th century, is made of ironstone and is located approximately 1 metre east of the south porch of the Church of St. James. The north side features a panelled section on the left with a fragmentary inscription that reads "...(Thom?)mas W. died 1708" and incised letters to the right that say "T.W. 1692." The south side bears an inscription dedicated to Thomas Whitton, who died in 1632.
