Description

St Thomas a Becket's Well is a site located on Bedford Road, reputedly associated with Thomas Becket, who was summoned to Northampton to appear before the royal council in 1164. The original well head was replaced in 1843 and is now enclosed by a rectangular stone shelter featuring a pointed arch. The shelter has a stone slated roof with verges at the gables. This site is included for its historical interest.
