Description

House, early 19th century. Red brick with a Welsh slate roof and moulded brick eaves. It is part of a terrace, with three storeys and an attic, and a main window range. A mid-19th century bay window is present on the ground floor. Steps and railings lead to a panelled door with a fanlight, set in an early 19th century moulded doorcase, which forms part of a pair with number 78 to the left. Above the door is a small glazing bar sash window on each floor. An attic dormer is also present.

Number 78 was remodelled internally in 1916 by Charles Rennie Mackintosh in an early modernistic style for W J Basset Lowke. He removed features from one room by Mackintosh to 508 Wellingborough Road in 1925. The building has three storeys, three windows and two smaller, later central windows. A later bay window is present on number 80.

Numbers 72 to 82 form a group with number 1 Victoria Promenade.
