Description

The Manor House, now converted into flats, was built between 1860 and 1870, incorporating earlier work, for Edward Sempill by E. F. Law. It features coursed squared ironstone with ashlar dressings and a rear section of coursed squared limestone banded with ironstone. The building has a tile roof and moulded stone stacks, designed in an irregular H-plan with a Scottish baronial style. It stands two storeys tall with an attic and has five irregular bays, including gabled franking wings. A round tower with a conical roof is positioned at the angle between the right wing and the main block.

On the left side, there is a 20th-century stone porch that includes a doorway with a four-centred arch and a 16-panel double door. The windows are stone mullioned, featuring two and three lights with moulded stone frames. Stone plaques displaying the coat of arms of Edward Sempill and his wife, Baroness Maria Jane, are located on the gables of the left and right wings, respectively. The gable ends are coped, and the rear has three irregular gabled wings, likely late 17th-century work that was remodelled in the 19th century. A stone plaque on the right gable is inscribed with 'Restored 1860. E.S. M.J.S.' and features two large heraldic reliefs below it. The stone mullioned windows were all renewed in the 19th century, and the gable ends have coped tops with kneelers and double stone stacks.

Inside, the ground floor room is said to have been remodelled with 20th-century linen fold panelling. A perspective drawing by E.F. Law, which shows the original design of the house including a second tower with an ogee cupola to the left of centre, is in the possession of Mrs. M. Lewis at The Manor House, Moreton Pinkney.
