Description
Slapton Lodge is a house located on Slapton Main Street, with its main range dating back to 1670 and a wing added in 1719, along with extensive 19th-century additions and alterations, and a wing from 1940. The building is constructed from coursed squared limestone and ironstone, featuring ironstone dressings, with plain-tile roofs and stone end and ridge stacks. The large ridge stack has four octagonal brick flues. The house has a complex plan and stands two storeys high with an attic, presenting a three-window range at the front. A 20th-century gabled stone porch is positioned to the right of the centre. To the left, there is a large cross wing that includes three-light chamfered stone mullion windows on both the ground and first floors, as well as a similar two-light window in the attic, all adorned with hood moulds. The gable of this wing features a datestone inscribed R/C/A/1670. The wings on either side have 19th-century two-light chamfered stone mullion windows on the ground and first floors. The rear left wing facing the street has a datestone inscribed W/IM/1719. Inside, the building includes stop-chamfered spine beams.
