Description

Manor House is a farmhouse dated 1638 that was restored in the 20th century. It is built from coursed squared limestone with ironstone dressings and features a slate roof with stone ridge stacks. The building is designed in an L-shape and has two storeys plus an attic.

To the left of the main range, there is a 20th-century door set in a moulded stone surround with a segmental head. A hood mould extends over one-light windows on either side of the angle between the main range and the projecting wings, which have double-chamfered stone surrounds. On the ground floor to the right, there is a three-light stone mullion window with a hood mould, and above the door, there is a similar two-light window.

The projecting wing to the left features a one-light window on the ground floor near the inner angle, which has a moulded stone surround and lintel inscribed with "DAIRY." There is also a small window on the first floor near the gable with a chamfered stone surround. The gable end of this wing has three-light stone mullion windows with hood moulds on the ground, first, and attic floors, some of which have been partly renewed.

A Phoenix fire insurance plaque is located in the gable just below a re-cut datestone inscribed "1638/IKM." The stone-coped gables are supported by kneelers. Inside, the house features stop-chamfered spine beams and an open fireplace with stone jambs and a timber four-centred arched head.
