Description

Spring Meadow is a house, formerly a farmhouse, dating to 1681. It is constructed of coursed limestone and ironstone rubble with a corrugated asbestos roof and brick end stacks. The building is arranged in an L-shape, with two floors and an attic, and a two-window front. A central six-panel part-glazed door is set within a moulded wooden surround, topped by a timber lintel and a segmental iron hood supported by iron brackets. A datestone above the door is inscribed with "IZP/1681". There are old three-light casements to the ground and first floors, each with a timber lintel. Ironstone quoins are visible, and the gables are stone-coped with kneelers. A rear wing to the right has six-pane horned sash windows and a stone-coped gable with kneelers. The interior features chamfered spine beams, a dog-leg staircase with turned balusters, a four-centred-arched stone corner fireplace with cut spandrels, a bolection-moulded stone corner fireplace upstairs, and a stone cellar.
