Description
Sandpit Barn is a field barn dating from 1775, as indicated by the datestone marked J.W. The barn is constructed of squared coursed limestone with decorative dressings and features a pantile roof. It is a single-unit structure with a central cart entrance that has been altered, along with a small door located at the rear. The barn retains remnants of ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, with the datestone positioned on the kneeler of the right gable. The original roof is supported by two principal trusses that include diagonal braces and a high-set collar, all pegged and marked by the carpenter.
