It is constructed of coursed rubble stone with a pyramidal thatched roof and a stone stack featuring a moulded ashlar flue. The wash-house is square in plan and single-storied. A central doorway provides access through a plank door on the side facing the rear of the cottages. It forms part of the significant group of buildings on the model estate of Ashton, created by Charles Rothschild.
