Description
No. 3 The Lane is a house that was originally a house and barn, located in Easton on the Hill. It features a datestone marked W/WM/1747. The building is constructed of squared coursed limestone and ironstone, topped with a Collyweston slate roof. It was originally designed with a two-unit plan and includes an attached barn. The structure is single storey with an attic and has an irregular three-window arrangement of casements beneath wooden lintels. There are three gabled eaves dormers in the attic, each with casement windows. The house has three part-glazed panelled doors, also under wooden lintels, positioned between the window ranges. Brick and stone stacks are located at the ridge and end of the building. The gable on the left, which faces The Lane, displays the datestone at its apex. The barn is now incorporated into the house. The interiors have not been inspected. It is likely that the house was built by William Whitehead, a slater who leased it from the Churchwardens.
