Description

This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, located on Church Street, Easton on the Hill. The house dates to 1686, with alterations made in the 19th century. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone, with a Collyweston slate roof. Originally designed with a three-unit plan, the building is single-storey with an attic.

The front has an irregular three-window arrangement of three-light stone mullion windows, set high above ground level. There are three gabled dormers in the attic; one retains remnants of a leaded-light. An ashlar gable parapet is present on the left side. Two stone stacks are situated along the ridge. The left gable features a 20th-century door to the left, a 20th-century casement window in the centre, and a stone mullion window above, with a datestone (W/CE/1686) in the gable’s apex.

The interior of number 23 contains the remains of an open fireplace with a bressumer. The house was converted into three dwellings during the 19th century.
