Description

RAUNDS GROVE STREET SP97SE (North side) 5/112 Dovecote approx. 50m. E of 26/04/50 No.42 (Peverels) (not included) (Formerly listed as Dovecote at rear of No.44) GV II

Dovecote. Probably mid C16. Squared coursed limestone with pantile roof. Rectangular plan. Central plank door under wood lintel. Gabled roof with fragments of ashlar parapets. Casement openings under wood lintels in apex of gables. C20 door in right gable. Raised string course below eaves to each elevation. Interior not inspected but said to retain nesting boxes in upper stages. Probably formed part of the Peverel Manor at Raunds.
