Description
This dovecote, likely built in the mid-16th century, is located approximately 50 meters east of number 42 (Peverels) on Raunds Grove Street. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features a pantile roof with a rectangular plan. The building has a central plank door set beneath a wooden lintel and a gabled roof that includes fragments of ashlar parapets. There are casement openings under wooden lintels at the apex of the gables, and a 20th-century door is present in the right gable. A raised string course runs below the eaves on each side of the structure. Although the interior has not been inspected, it is reported to still have nesting boxes in the upper levels. This dovecote likely formed part of the Peverel Manor at Raunds.
