Description

The dovecote, located to the north of The Rectory and Rectory Lodge, dates from the late 16th century. It is constructed of dressed and squared limestone with a stone slate roof. The building is tall and square, featuring gables on each side, with the gables on the east and west being slightly smaller. The south and west gables have later oval openings, which may have been taken from The Rectory during alterations in 1858. On the north side, there is a small square pigeon hole with a perch, along with a high-level doorway that has a timber lintel and a plank door. Additionally, there is a fixed light with a stone lintel on the west side. A dovecote was recorded at this location in 1597.
