Description

This is a mid 19th-century lime kiln located at Raunds on Mountbatten Way. The kiln is constructed of brick and features a circular plan with a conical brick roof and an octagonal flue. A flight of steps leads down to an arch-headed doorway that provides access to the furnace, which is situated below ground. The outer wall of the kiln is encased in a late 19th or early 20th-century brick strengthening skin. This structure was originally part of the Raunds Manor Brickworks.
