Description
Walnut Tree Farmhouse is an early to mid-18th century farmhouse located in Higham Ferrers. The building is constructed from squared coursed limestone with a Collyweston slate roof and a 20th-century tile roof. Originally, it had a 3-unit plan. The farmhouse is two storeys high and has a four-window front, with irregularly spaced sash windows featuring glazing bars. Most windows have wood lintels, except for the first-floor window on the right, which has a reconstituted stone lintel. A 20th-century door is located to the right of the centre, sheltered by a flat 19th-century hood. The gables have ashlar parapets, and brick and stone stacks are positioned at the ridge and end of the building. The rear elevation includes two later 18th-century extensions and remnants of leaded casement windows. The interior was noted to contain spine beams, and may have remains of open fireplaces, though it has not been inspected.
