Description

This is a house, now divided into two dwellings, located on the north side of High Street in Great Doddington. The building dates to 1662, as indicated by a reset datestone. It is constructed of regular coursed limestone with ironstone dressings and has a thatched roof. Originally, the house likely had a three-unit plan. It is two storeys high with an attic, and presents a four-window facade featuring 20th-century casement windows under wooden lintels. A blocked window is visible on the ground floor to the left. Modern doors are positioned to the left and right. Number 36 has a thatched porch, while number 38 features a lattice porch. The central bay projects forward with a gable. The building is distinguished by ashlar gable parapets and kneelers, as well as a central brick stack. The left-hand gable, which abuts the road, is similar in design and incorporates a datestone. The rear elevation displays a similar appearance, with evidence of a blocked fire window. The interiors of the dwellings were not inspected.
