Description
No. 42 High Street is a house dating from 1689, as indicated by the datestone KWE/1689, with alterations made in the 19th century. The building is constructed of regularly coursed limestone and has a concrete tile roof. Originally designed with a two-unit plan, it stands two storeys tall with an attic. The front features a three-window range of casements that have glazing bars and are set under wooden lintels. There is a 20th-century door located within a 19th-century brick porch. To the left, there is an ashlar gable parapet and brick stacks at both ends. The datestone is positioned to the left of the entrance. Additionally, there are single-storey extensions from the 19th and 20th centuries to the left of the main structure. Inside, notable features include a salt cupboard, a fire window, and the original roof structure.
