Description
This building consists of a barn, stable, and granary located approximately 10 meters west of Shotley Farmhouse. It is likely from the late 17th century and mid 18th century. The structure is made of squared coursed limestone and lias, topped with roofs of Collyweston slate, Welsh slate, and concrete tiles. The one-unit barn is connected to the granary by a stable range.
The central cart entrance features a wooden lintel and is flanked by slit vents with triangular vents above. The granary's elevation facing the road includes one first-floor casement opening and three stone vents with circular holes. To the left of the granary, there is a flight of stone steps. The rear elevation has several plank doors beneath wooden lintels. Although the interior was not inspected, the granary is noted to have some 18th-century roof structure, and the trusses in the barn are also likely from the 18th century. This building is included for its group value.
