Description

Limes Farmhouse, now a house, was likely built in the late 17th century and probably altered in the 19th century. Constructed from finely squared coursed limestone with lias dressings, it has a Welsh slate roof and an L-shaped plan. The main front has two storeys and an attic. The front façade features a symmetrical three-window arrangement with three-light stone mullion windows, each with a hood mould. The gable parapets are finished with ashlar kneelers, and there is a central brick and stone stack on the ridge. The rear elevation and a rear wing have stone mullion windows similar to those on the front, along with 19th-century style casement windows set under wooden lintels. The main entrance is located in the rear wing. Inside, a room to the right of the main front retains evidence of an open fireplace with a bressumer, while the kitchen has a later fireplace with a bread oven. Notable interior features include stop-chamfered spine beams, 17th-century stud framed partitions, and a roof structure featuring two tiers of butt purlins, with the rear range displaying convex wind braces.
