Description

Cross Farmhouse is a farmhouse, now a house, with origins in the 16th century, raised and remodelled in the early to mid-19th century. It is constructed of squared coursed lias and limestone, with a Welsh slate roof. Originally a three-unit plan, the house has two storeys and a three-window range of 19th-century two-light stone mullion windows with arch-head lights at the first floor, and similar three-light windows at ground floor. A central gabled porch, dated to the 19th century, features a four-centred arch doorway and a 20th-century door. Ashlar ridge and end stacks top the building. An outbuilding attached to the right is now part of the house. The left gable is of squared coursed lias, with a chamfered plinth and evidence of an 18th-century roof line. Part of an outbuilding to the rear has been incorporated into the house. The interior was not inspected but is noted to have some step-chamfered spine beams with run-out stops.
