Description

The retaining wall, located approximately 110 metres east of the east front of Drayton House, is likely from the early 18th century and was built for Sir John Germain. It is constructed from squared coursed limestone and features ashlar coping. The wall includes a central semi-circular bastion aligned with the main east/west axis of Drayton House, creating a terrace for the Statue of Samson and the Philistine. This area is part of the gardens that are registered at grade I.
