Description
Greystones is a house dating from the mid to late 17th century. It is constructed of squared coursed limestone with an ashlar facade and features a Collyweston slate roof. The original layout was a three-unit cross passage plan, and the house is two storeys high. The front has a three-window range of three-light stone mullion windows, with a single-light window at the far right. There is a blocked door opening, now a window, to the right of the centre, which has a wooden lintel. The house has ashlar stacks at the ridge and end. The rear elevation is similar, featuring one three-light cavetto-moulded stone mullion window, while the other windows are casements under wooden lintels. The central entrance is a plank door beneath a wooden lintel. The interior includes an open fireplace with a bressumer and ceiling beams, and the first-floor room has a 17th-century fireplace with a four-centred arch. There is evidence of three building phases.
