Description

This is a row of four houses, previously five, located on School Lane. Number 2 is likely from the early 18th century, while the others date to the late 18th century. The houses are constructed with squared coursed and ashlar limestone, with Collyweston slate roofs. Originally, they had one or two-unit plans. They present a 7-window range of 19th and 20th century casement windows, some with glazing bars, all set under wooden lintels. Number 2 has a 19th-century shop-style window with glazing bars on its left side. Modern doors and porches are situated between the window ranges. Number 2 has a lower eaves line and a part catslide roof, with evidence of two builds between numbers 6 and 7. A left-hand ashlar gable parapet is present on number 2. Brick and ashlar stacks are located at the ridge and ends of the building. The interior of number 2 features an open fireplace with a bressumer and chamfered ceiling beams. A chamfered post in the porch is locally believed to have marked the boundary between Great and Little Weldon.
